We live in a harsh environment and it can be a deadly one.
Today we were alerted by Tenshi that something wasn't right, we headed outside to find him growling at something under the house.
A closer inspection brought us to the realisation that Koji was engaged and attempting to hold something in position, we soon realised that 'something' was one of the most dangerous land snakes in the world.
As he moved towards it and within striking distance, a hurried, 'leave it' was issued, he immediately halted and stepped back. A 'To Me' (his recall command) was issued and he immediately broke eye contact with the snake, backed away and returned.
A bite means death out here - training and commands are essential, they are life savers. This is the second time in 10 months these dogs lives have been saved with this command from snakes.
Train your dogs, recall and leave it are lifesavers in many situations, because our dogs were trained and these commands reinforced over and over, we still have our three beautiful dogs with us today.
Train them, don't excuse them.
I have only joined the group. I am now heartbroken & heartfelt for the family of Troy to learn he didn’t make it throughone of the hardest years in our modern time but from one of the most ravaging illnesses one can have.
ReplyDeleteI am new , but have had a few dogs in the past- but have never had the opportunity to have had such so much information about how to train (like a child) the good, not so good & the bad out of a dog without having to beat or deny it ( had I had this information my children would have been socially accepted.)
To The family,
I’m sorry for bringing up the past, but I’m so ever grateful for the knowledge of the right way with no anger but just calm.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CARRYING ON THE DREAM TO EDUCATE PEOPLE (me) THAT THERE ARE NO BAD DOGS JUST BAD TEACHERS 💙💔
